Agartala, 20th June 2025: A discussion meeting with editors and representatives of various print, electronic, and web media outlets from across the state was convened today at the initiative of the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura. The meeting, held at the state guest house, aimed at fostering better coordination between the media and the election administration ahead of upcoming electoral processes.
Chief Electoral Officer Brijesh Pandey, Additional CEO Ushajen Mag, and Director of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharya were present during the meeting. Senior journalists and media professionals from prominent platforms actively participated in the discussions.
Addressing the gathering, CEO Brijesh Pandey emphasized the pivotal role of the media in disseminating accurate and timely information to the public. “The Election Commission of India has laid down specific guidelines to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections. In this context, regular interaction between the CEO’s office and the media is crucial to prevent misinformation and maintain public confidence in the electoral process,” Pandey stated.
He further added that such meetings help build a bridge of understanding and cooperation between the election machinery and the media, which is essential for ensuring informed participation by citizens.
Prominent journalists including Manas Pal, Jayanta Debnath, Abhishek Dey, Sujit Dey, Manisha Pal Chowdhury, Hirak Gupta, and Sandeep Biswas also shared their views, highlighting the importance of open communication and the need for access to credible information during election periods.
As a token of appreciation and to commemorate the occasion, the Chief Electoral Officer handed over a booklet titled India Votes – A Saga of Democracy to all attendees.
