Agartala, 21st June 2025: Power, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath today said everyone must be united and perform yoga to make the state free from the drug menace.
Minister Nath said this while addressing the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations at Neermahal in Sepahijala District today.
“In the world, there are 195 countries and the United Nations currently has 193 member countries. Across the world, International Yoga Day is being celebrated today. It was in September 2014 that Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed before the United Nations to celebrate June 21 as International Yoga Day. Soon after, in three months, the proposal was raised in the United Nations and received support from 177 countries. Since then, we are celebrating this day,” said Minister Nath.
He said that every year there is a theme for International Yoga Day. “This year’s theme is One Earth, One Health. No country thinks about the Earth without PM Modi. He said One Earth, One Family, One Future. Gautama Buddha used to perform yoga, and now in the modern era, Swami Vivekananda. Yoga is very useful for everyone.
Now we are like machines and don’t have stability. Nowadays, we don’t have control over our food habits or our lifestyle. Yoga is very useful to keep the mind stable and the body fit. The thinking of PM Modi has been accepted by the majority of the world. Youth must embrace yoga. The major challenge in our state is drugs. We must be united and perform yoga to make a drug-free state,” he added.
