Agartala, 24th March 2026: Voters in the 56-Dharmnagar Assembly constituency by-election will be required to present a photo voter ID at the time of voting.
Those unable to show an EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card) can alternatively present one of several approved identification documents. These include Aadhaar cards, Ration cards, bank or post office passbooks with photographs, health insurance smart cards issued by the Ministry of Labour and the Ayushman Bharat program, driving licenses, PAN cards, smart cards issued under the NPR by the Registrar General of India, Indian passports, pension documents with photographs, ID cards issued by central or state government public sector undertakings, official ID cards issued by MPs, MLAs, or MLCs, and the Unique Disability ID card issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
The announcement was made in a press note issued by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer of the state.
