Agartala, July 03, 2023: The former Congress state president and incumbent MLA Gopal Roy on Monday has demanded a thorough investigation into the chariot accident that took place in Kumarghat. Taking to social media, he asserted that the incident was not a mere accident but a conspiracy. Roy emphasized the need for an impartial investigation conducted by a former judge of the High Court.

Expressing his concern, Roy stated that such a tragic incident during a Rath Yatra is unprecedented in any state of the country. He questioned the construction of the chariots, highlighting that as per “Sanatan Dharma” traditions, they should be made of neem wood rather than iron. He strongly criticized this deviation from the traditional practices and urged for a fair investigation into the matter.

Roy further demanded that the government provide government jobs to the families of the seven individuals who lost their lives in the incident. Additionally, he called for government employment opportunities for the families of those who suffered permanent physical disabilities.

Highlighting the seriousness of the incident, Roy emphasized that it was not a mere accident but a result of a planned conspiracy. Therefore, he argued that an investigation led by the district magistrate would not be sufficient to uncover the truth. Roy insisted on the formation of a commission, headed by a former High Court judge, to ensure an unbiased and impartial investigation into the incident.

By demanding a comprehensive investigation and seeking justice for the victims, Gopal Roy has brought attention to the need for a thorough examination of the Kumarghat chariot accident.
