Agartala, 25th November 2025:    Shock and outrage gripped Tripura after a second-year school student was brutally hacked to death in broad daylight in Dharmanagar, while his mother was left critically injured in the same attack. The incident has sparked widespread condemnation and renewed concerns over the state’s deteriorating law and order situation.

The Pradesh Congress strongly criticized the government, alleging complete failure in curbing crime. Party leaders claimed that criminals are operating with impunity under the patronage of influential leaders and ministers from the ruling party. They further accused sections of the police of colluding with offenders, worsening the crisis. As a result, Congress argued, repeated assurances of “zero tolerance” from the Chief Minister and senior police officials have become “meaningless and laughable” to the public.

In a statement, the Pradesh Congress condemned the heinous killing, paid tribute to the deceased child, and wished for the speedy recovery of his injured mother. The party demanded immediate arrests of all those involved and exemplary punishment to restore public confidence.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Congress warned that the safety of children, girls, women, and youth across the state is now under severe threat. The party called upon all democratic-minded citizens to unite and resist the growing menace of crime and lawlessness.
