Agartala, 18th April 2025:   Agartala witnessed a solemn celebration of Good Friday, one of the holiest days in Christianity as devotees commemorated the crucifixion of Lord Jesus Christ. Marking this occasion, local Christians gathered for ceremonies and prayer meetings across the state, particularly at the Baptist Church.

The day began with a Morning Prayer meeting attended by a wide range of participants, both young and old. Religious leaders emphasized the significance of Good Friday, reflecting on its meaning in detail. According to Christian beliefs, this day honors the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who died by crucifixion. The celebration is part of the Paschal Triduum, observed during Holy Week on the Friday preceding Easter Sunday.

Scriptural accounts suggest Jesus Christ’s trial and crucifixion likely took place on a Friday. Historical analysis provides varying dates for the event, including 33 AD and 34 AD. The scientist Isaac Newton used Biblical records, the Julian calendar, and lunar data to place the year at 34 AD. Another method, the Crucifixion Darkness and Eclipse analysis, identifies the date as 3 April, 33 AD.

Good Friday stands as a day of prayer, reflection, and reverence for Christians worldwide, uniting communities in honoring the life and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
