Agartala, 29th May 2026: A significant mock drill was organized today at the Santirbazar Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office under the initiative of the Civil Defence Department. The exercise aimed to raise public awareness about emergency situations such as air raids or blackouts.
Civil Defence Nodal Officer Kakali Saha explained that the drill was designed to demonstrate how Civil Defence teams would respond in the event of an air strike or aerial attack, and how ordinary citizens should react during such crises. “The primary objective is to build awareness and preparedness among the public for adverse situations resembling wartime emergencies,” she said.
The programme saw active participation from the local administration, the 9th Battalion TSR, Santirbazar medical teams, and civil volunteers. According to Saha, such drills strengthen community readiness and enhance safety measures for civilians during emergencies.
She also urged citizens to treat emergency sirens as danger signals and to follow prescribed safety protocols without panic. Expressing gratitude, she added: “I thank all departments and volunteers for making today’s drill a success.”
