Agartala, 19th January 2025:  Tensions flared in the Banshibari area of Charilam on Sunday as BJP and Tipra Motha party workers engaged in a fight during the Prime Minister’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program.

The altercation, which occurred at booth number 3, resulted in injuries to several BJP workers, including BJP Janajati Morcha District President Kanuraj Debbarma.

The program, organized on the instructions of the Mandal, was hosted at the residence of Biren Debbarma. Around 11 AM, while the event was underway, a group of Tipra Motha workers allegedly led by local leader Pandab Debbarma launched an attack with sticks. The assault left multiple BJP workers injured, while property damage included the destruction of four motorcycles and several mobile phones.

News of the attack spread rapidly, prompting a swift response from the local authorities. A significant police contingent, including the Bishalgarh Subdivision Police Officer, arrived at the scene to contain the situation. Despite their intervention, the area remains tense.

The BJP has since lodged a formal complaint with the police, naming several accused individuals, including Pandab Debbarma. In response, two suspects have been arrested so far.

It is noteworthy that the BJP has historically faced challenges organizing events in the Banshibari area. On previous occasions, party programs, including those led by senior leaders and former MPs, had to be canceled due to anticipated attacks.
