Agartala, 18th March 2024 : Tensions escalated at Bhagyapur Indamani Secondary School in Bhagyapur village panchayat on the northern outskirts of Dharmanagar town, as a dispute between teachers and parents turned into a scuffle during a cultural program today morning.
The turmoil unfolded when a cultural event, eagerly anticipated by students, turned sour due to the absence of a specialist teacher or mentor for such occasions. With no clear guidance from the head teacher, chaos ensued when a young girl, filled with enthusiasm, began dancing to a song of her choice.
School teacher Radhakanta Sinha’s intervention took a controversial turn, as he strongly objected to the girl’s performance, resulting in her tearful reaction. Allegations quickly mounted against Sinha, with several students and parents accusing him of not only scolding and berating them but also resorting to physical punishment.
Efforts to mediate the conflict by the headmaster proved futile, leading to the involvement of local law enforcement. The situation remains tense, particularly between minority women and teacher Radhakant Sinha, despite police intervention.
Both sides remain steadfast in their positions, unwilling to compromise, further exacerbating the already volatile atmosphere. The incident underscores the urgent need for effective communication and clearer guidelines within the educational institution to prevent such conflicts in the future.
