Agartala, 17th April 2026: The Tipra Motha Party has emerged as the dominant force in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, securing a decisive victory by winning 24 out of the 28 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) managed to win the remaining 4 seats.
Voting for the TTAADC elections took place on April 12, with a strong voter turnout of 83%. The counting of votes was conducted on Friday across 17 centers under tight security arrangements. As per official procedures, counting began at 8:00 AM, starting with VVPAT slips, followed by Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) after a 30-minute interval.
A total of 173 candidates were in the fray, representing major political parties such as BJP, CPI(M), Congress, Tipra Motha Party, and IPFT.
The Tipra Motha Party won 24 constituencies, including Simna-Tamakari, Amtali-Golaghati, Ramchandraghat, Karamchhara, Takarjala-Jampuijala, Bodhjungnagar-Wakkinagar, Damcherra-Jampui, Nutanbazar-Malbasa, Mandainagar-Pulinpur, Ganganagar-Gandachhara, Demchhara-Kachuchhara, Jirania, Ampinagar, Kathalia-Mirja-Rajapur, Manu-Chailengta, Pekuarjala-Janmejoy Nagar, Maharani-Teliamura, Raima Valley, Purba Muhuripur-Bhuratali, Birchandranagar-Kalashi, Killa-Bagma, Kulai-Champahour, Halahali-Asharambari, and Maharani-Chelagang.
Meanwhile, the BJP secured victories in four seats: Chhawmanu, Dasda-Kanchanpur, Silachhari-Manubankul, and Machmara.
