Agartala, August 22: In a move that has disrupted the daily operations of South Tripura District Hospital in Santirbazar, the cleaning workers have initiated an indefinite strike, demanding timely and regular payment of their wages on Tuesday. The dedicated cleaning staff, responsible for maintaining the hospital’s hygiene standards, have not received their salaries as scheduled, prompting this drastic action.
Efforts to reach an agreement between the cleaning workers and the responsible company have remained futile since the strike began. There has been a complete lack of communication between the workers and the company officials, leaving the employees uncertain about their employment status.
As a result, since Tuesday, the cleaning workers of South Tripura District Hospital have united in a strike movement, vowing not to resume their duties until their concerns are addressed. They have issued an ultimatum, giving the company a two-day window to initiate dialogue and resolve the ongoing payment issue. Failure to do so will result in the continuation of the strike, further impacting the hospital’s cleanliness and operations.
The strike has raised questions about the management of the hospital’s cleaning services, as workers seek answers and justice for their unpaid wages. The hospital administration and the concerned company now face mounting pressure to address the workers’ grievances and restore normalcy to the hospital’s essential services.
