CM attended blood donation camp at Sanghati club and Alok Sangha

Agartala, August 16, 2022: On the occasion of the 76th Independence Day celebration, Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha on Monday said that the clubs are also playing an important role in social work other than sports and cultural programmes. Clubs are undertaking great programmes like blood donation, posthumous eye donation and organ donation throughout the year, he added.

Dr Saha inaugurated voluntary separate blood donation camps of Sanghati Club and Alok Sangha club in Agartala on the occasion of 76th Independence Day celebration.

Speaking at the programme of Sanghati Club, Chief Minister said that 15 August is the day to pay tribute to all the brave warriors who fought and brought independence of the country. 15th August is also the day for taking oath to protect the integrity and sovereignty of the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in 2021 to mark the 75th anniversary of independence from Sabarmati Ashram. Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav festival will continue till August 15, 2023. Prime Minister always thinks for the welfare of the country and the people of the country. This thought of the Prime Minister gives us strength to work.

He thanked the club authorities for organizing programmes like blood donation, posthumous body donation and eye donation on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of our Independence. MLA Surjit Dutta, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor, Dipak Majumder, Kathiyababa Ashram Principal Sadananda Das Kathiyababa, Municipal Councillor Abhishek Dutta spoke at the programme. At the camp, 5 people donated their organs and I person donated eyes.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister inaugurated the blood donation camp at Alok Sangha and said donating blood is the greatest gift and there’s no alternative to it. Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is celebrated in the country and Prime Minister has taken various programmes to build a better India. We must all be committed to achieving this goal.

MLA Surajit Dutta, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor, Dipak Majumder, Municipal Councillor, Snigdha Das Deb, Tripura Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Chairman, Bolai Goswami, Alok Sangha President, Chandan Chakraborty, General Secretary, Jayanta Dutta and others were present. In total, 28 people donated blood at Alok Sangha’s blood donation camp. On behalf of Alok Sangha, the families of late freedom fighters Harendranath Bhattacharya and Ramtaran Bhattacharya were felicitated.
