Sushanta reviews pipeline drinking water connection of Unakoti district at Kumarghat

Agartala, August 16, 2022: The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation has committed to provide clean drinking water to every citizen of the state through tap water under “Jal Jeevan Mission”. The department of Drinking Water and Sanitation is working tirelessly day and night in “Mission Mood” to implement Prime Minister Narendra Modiji’s ‘Har Ghar Jal’ slogan.

While chairing a review meeting of DWS department in Unakoti district on Tuesday, Chowdhury said “Under the guidance of our popular Prime Minister Narendra Modiji and under the able guidance and direction of our Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, keeping in mind the goal of supplying piped purified drinking water to the homes of every citizen of our state, I have participated in a high level review meeting on the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ in Unakoti district today at the conference hall of the Public Works Department office at Kumarghat. To know in detail about the progress of the work related to the project and provide necessary advice to the concerned officials associated with this mission.”

“Today’s important review meeting discussed various important issues for the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission to ensure ‘Har Ghar Jal’ in various areas under Unakoti district. We have been conducting regular review meetings in different districts every month to know whether the project is being done in sufficient quantity and maintaining proper quality. Today in this meeting various plans related to ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ were reviewed, implementation of plans and how much work has been done so far in Unakoti district. Discussions were held on how to speed up the implementation of the project. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this scheme to make life easier and ensure quality of life. This will especially benefit women in rural areas because they bring water from far away for the house. Skilled manpower such as plumbers, masons, electricians, pump operators etc. will be added to this project so that they can be employed in rural areas for this project”, he added.

The meeting was also attended by SC Welfare minister and Pabiacherra MLA Bhagaban Chandra Das, MLA Sudhangshu Das, Unakoti district DM Uttam Kumar Chakma, Unakoti Zilla Parishad Sabhadipati Amalendu Das, Sahakari-Sabhadipati Shyamal Das, other members of the Zilla Parishad, Chairman/Vice-Chairman of various Panchayat Samiti and other members, Chief Engineer of Drinking Water and Sanitation department Shyamlal Bhowmik, Superintendent of Engineer Rajib Majumder, SDM, Block Development Officer of various blocks, District’s SP Kishore Debbarman, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Executive and Assistant Engineers associated with the project and other dignitaries.
