Agartala, December 25, 2022: Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha attended the cake-cutting ceremony in the premises of the first Parish Church located at Mariyamnagar under Khayerpur assembly constituency on Sunday.
Dr Saha was accompanied by the Assembly’s speaker and local MLA Ratan Chakraborty, Church in-charge Reverend Fr Jenus and DM of West Tripura district Debapriya Bardhan along with social workers and Carol D’Souza.
Addressing the ceremony, Chief Minister Dr Saha said “We all are well aware about the significance of the 25th of December which is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ. As part of this significant day, a cake-cutting ceremony has been organized in the premises of Church at Mariyamnagar”.
“We are surprised to see what the Manikya Dynasty has not done here. In the mid of 15th century, the kings brought Portugese people here for security purpose and they were given land here at Mariyamnagar for settling”, he added.
Citing an instance of humanity, Dr Saha said “As blood is same for all, as water is same for all, similarly, we all are human beings, our names may vary. Humanity is the main thing amongst us.”
