Agartala, 27th November 2024: Tripura BJP leaders, including Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, former Chief Minister and MP Biplab Kumar Deb, and BJP State President Rajib Bhattacharya, have condemned the escalating violence against Hindu minorities and leaders in Bangladesh. They have called for immediate and coordinated efforts to address the alarming situation.
Tripura, which shares an 856-km-long international border with Bangladesh, has been vocal about the incidents, particularly following the arrest of ISKCON leader Swami Chinmoy Krishna Das and attacks on Hindu communities in the neighboring country.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed concern over the assaults on Sanatan Dharma adherents, emphasizing its historical resilience. “Sanatan Dharma embodies justice and values. History has shown that those who attempt to harm it face eventual consequences,” he stated.
Former Chief Minister and Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb termed the attacks “undemocratic and anti-humanitarian.” He urged international cooperation to tackle the crisis, saying, “The ongoing assaults on Sanatani minorities, religious institutions, and leaders in Bangladesh are a blatant violation of human rights. Such actions, driven by narrow and vested interests, must be condemned. I appeal for immediate international intervention to address this grave situation.”
BJP State President and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharya highlighted the significant contributions of Swami Chinmoy Krishna Das to society and cultural preservation in Bangladesh. “Swami Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu has dedicated himself to the welfare of society, leading ISKCON and other organizations in selfless humanitarian efforts during crises. Branding ISKCON, a globally respected spiritual body, as a terrorist organization is an insult to its humanitarian legacy,” Bhattacharya remarked.
Bhattacharya criticized the Bangladesh government for failing to curb extremist forces targeting minorities and peaceful protesters. He demanded Swami Chinmoy Krishna Das’s immediate release and the withdrawal of baseless charges against him.
The BJP Tripura unit also called on the Bangladesh government to ensure the safety and dignity of Hindu minorities, stressing that they should live without fear or insecurity in their homeland. “Lakhs have suffered due to the ongoing violence since August. The Bangladesh government must act to protect minorities and create an environment of security and harmony,” Bhattacharya added.
The BJP leaders urged the Indian government to prioritize the issue and take necessary diplomatic steps to address the plight of minorities in Bangladesh.
