CM Dr Manik Saha hands over cheques of Rs 5 lakh to 3 youths for qualifying UPSC’s prelims

Agartala, September 11, 2023: Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha on Monday handed over cheques of Rs 5 lakh each to three youths who have cleared the prelims under “Chief Minister Special Scheme for UPSC exams”.

Speaking to media personnel at the premises of CM’s official residence here on Monday morning, Dr Saha said that the scheme “Chief Minister Special Scheme for UPSC exams” was launched in 2019-20 financial year and till date, four youths acquired this benefit of drawing Rs 5 lakh each from 2019-20 to 2022-23 fiscal years.

The criterion for acquiring this benefit include that the youth’s family income has to be less than Rs 10 lakh per annum and must be a resident of Tripura. Accordingly, Satabdee Majumder was the first girl to enjoy this benefit and she is now an IAS officer and also got her posting. There after more three persons from Tripura obtained this benefit while after clearing main exams, government also disburse Rs 20,000 more, he said.

CM Dr Saha said that the Higher Education department has enlisted three names Joy Debnath of Santirbazar, Jyotishman Chakma of Abhoynagar and Victor Debbarma of Krishnanagar in 2023-24 financial year, and today he had handed over the cheques of Rs 5 lakh each to their family members.
