Agartala, October 26. The Mayer Gaman Carnival-2023, a cultural event to mark the immersion of Goddess Durga idols, was held in Agartala Paradise Chowmuhanu area on Thursday evening. The Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. Manik Saha, inaugurated the event by cracking a coconut in front of the statue. He was accompanied by several ministers, including Pranajit Singha Roy, Santana Chakma, Tinku Roy, Bikash Debbarma, Sudhangshu Das, Sushanta Chowdhury and the Mayor of Agartala, Dipak Majumdar.
The event, organized by the ICA department, showcased the diversity and harmony of the castes and communities of the state through various cultural performances. The Chief Minister conveyed his Bijoya greetings to the people of the state and praised the peaceful and orderly conduct of the Durga Puja festival.
He said that the carnival was a reflection of the rich and vibrant culture of the state, which has embraced various festivals of different communities. He expressed his hope that the culture of the state will be maintained and promoted in the coming days.
The carnival attracted a large number of visitors, who gathered on both sides of the Agartala National Highway to witness the colourful procession of Durga idols. The carnival was a spectacle of joy and festivity for the people of Agartala and beyond.
