Agartala, 26th September 2026 : Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday said the state government was ready to examine issues confronting the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), while stressing the need for unity and cooperation among all communities and alliance partners.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event in Agartala, Saha said he had recently met representatives of the alliance partners, with discussions focusing mainly on the functioning of the ADC and various development-related matters.
“They are our alliance partners. They met with me, and we discussed various matters—primarily issues concerning the ADC and certain development-related topics,” Saha said.
According to the Chief Minister, he informed the delegation that the BJP’s central leadership was aware of the developments and that discussions were being held on the matters raised. He said the state government would examine the issues and assured the alliance partners of appropriate consideration.
Saha also underlined the importance of maintaining social harmony in the state, saying development could not be achieved without cooperation among different sections of society.
“We want to work together to build a beautiful Tripura, and we seek your cooperation in this endeavour,” he said.
Referring to the state’s demographic composition, Saha said Tripura’s tribal and non-tribal populations, along with the Manipuri community and other minority groups, must live and work together. Citing the 2011 Census, he said tribals constitute around 31 per cent of the state’s population, while non-tribals account for around 69 per cent.
“We must move forward together. We should avoid any form of animosity or hostile behaviour toward one another; we need to coexist harmoniously,” the Chief Minister said.
He said the same message was conveyed during his interaction with the alliance partners and that they had agreed with his view.
On the difficulties within the ADC, Saha said the alliance partners had sought assistance from the state government, indicating that its intervention could help address some of the problems.
“There are many issues involved. As I mentioned, not everything can be discussed here. But regarding the problems within the ADC, they suggested that assistance from the Tripura government would be beneficial,” he said.
The Chief Minister also questioned why the alliance partners were not publicly highlighting what he described as the origins of some of the current problems during the earlier Communist or Left Front government.
“I offered some suggestions regarding the origins of these problems, pointing out that they arose during the Communist regime,” Saha said.
“If these issues originated during the Communist or Left Front rule, why don’t you speak up about it? You should call the press and state clearly that we are facing these problems today because of them,” he quoted himself as telling the alliance partners.
Saha maintained that he had made his position clear during the discussion and reiterated the need for all sides to work together in the larger interest of Tripura.
