Agartala, 6th November 2025: Tripura is set to join the nationwide celebration of the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, the timeless patriotic song composed by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. Marking the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha released a video message extending warm greetings to the people and urging all citizens to actively participate in this historic event.
Dr. Saha described Vande Mataram, written in 1875, as a song that has inspired generations of Indians to serve the nation with devotion and courage. Calling it “the world’s greatest hymn to the motherland,” he said the song awakened the spirit of freedom and sacrifice that shaped India’s journey to independence.
The 150th anniversary will be observed on November 7, 2025, with a year-long programme continuing until November 7, 2026, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Tripura will inaugurate its celebrations with a state-level event in Agartala on the opening day. Similar observances will be held across all districts and subdivisions, with government offices and educational institutions joining the commemoration to honour the enduring legacy of the national song.
Calling upon citizens to participate wholeheartedly, the Chief Minister highlighted the emotional and patriotic resonance of Vande Mataram. He encouraged people to share photos and videos of their participation through official digital platforms to promote collective pride and unity.
Dr. Saha highlighted that Vande Mataram represents more than a song—it embodies India’s national spirit, dignity, and cultural identity. He expressed confidence that the anniversary celebration will strengthen patriotic fervour and motivate citizens to contribute to the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” — a developed India.
