Agartala, 22nd January 2025: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the importance of making a newly released book, which features a selection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speeches, more accessible to the general public. He highlighted that doing so would benefit society and serve as a source of inspiration for the people.
The Chief Minister made this statement during a special book release event at Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Bhasha Bhavan, National Library, Kolkata. The book, which compiles and translates a selection of the Prime Minister’s speeches into Bengali for the first time, was launched with great enthusiasm.
Dr. Saha expressed his belief that the book would become significant for the people and further emphasized the importance of ensuring its widespread availability. “This book should be made easily accessible to the public. It will inspire them and provide benefits to society, especially with the translation into Bengali,” he remarked.
During the event, the Chief Minister also reflected on the Tripura government’s progress in improving the state’s socio-economic landscape. He pointed out the remarkable growth in the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) and a significant increase in per capita income over the past decade. He attributed these developments to Prime Minister Modi’s Act East Policy.
Dr. Saha recalled his visit to Kolkata before the last elections, noting that although the results did not meet expectations, he was optimistic about future changes in West Bengal. He credited PM Modi with giving special attention to the development of the northeastern states since he assumed office in 2014.
The Chief Minister also highlighted PM Modi’s vision for the Northeast, citing significant changes in Tripura over the past 10 years. “People who visited Tripura a decade ago are now amazed at how much Agartala and the state have transformed. These once unimaginable changes are now a reality, thanks to our visionary Prime Minister,” he said, pointing to the introduction of broad gauge rail service connecting Agartala to Sabroom, the southernmost district of Tripura.
Under the BJP government’s leadership, the Chief Minister said, there has been exceptional progress in infrastructure development, including improvements in communication systems, internet services, railways, highways, and airways.
Dr. Saha also noted the unique nature of the Prime Minister’s Mann Ki Baat program, which directly connects him with the people of India. “It’s difficult to find another world leader who engages with the public in such a way. Compiling and sharing the Mann Ki Baat program is therefore highly significant,” he added.
The event was attended by various distinguished guests, including Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey, former Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy, Padma Shri Purna Das Baul, Padma Shri Pritikana Goswami, Dr. Saurabh Prasad Ghosh, Dr. Anirban Ganguly of the Syama Prasad Mukherjee Research Foundation, former MP Dilip Ghosh, and other public representatives and scholars.
