CM emphasizes on development of ‘Tripura Gharana’ as cultural priority

Agartala, June 27: Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, emphasized the development of ‘Tripura Gharana’ as a cultural priority for the state during the first meeting of the newly formed State Level Cultural Advisory Committee.

“Classical music was once widespread in the state. But this genre of classical music is dying out now. We should work for development of classical music in the state. Among the artists of the state, there is always an urge to create something new. I hope that the artists of the state will come forward with new and innovative ideas in the cultural development of the state in the future. And we should also focus on how we can develop ‘Tripura Gharana’ in the state”, said Dr Saha.

He further said that there is no dearth of talent among the children in the field of sports and culture.

“They need a suitable platform to develop their talent. The state government has taken initiatives to develop the talent of the children of the state”, said CM.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister said that if the cultural environment of the state is developed, the development of the society and the state will be accelerated.

The Chief Minister stressed on how to keep the traditional issues intact in the cultural performance of the people of the nation in accordance with the modern times and how to be more creative through research.

Secretary of ICA Department PK Chakraborty discussed in detail about the current status, progress and new initiatives of cultural activities of the department.

The secretary said that in the current financial year, the department has taken the initiative of organizing 104 cultural events through its annual cultural calendar.

In the meeting Vice Chairman of the State Cultural Advisory Committee Subrata Chakraborty, Secretary of ICA Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, Director of ICA Bimbisar Bhattacharya, Director of Tourism Department Tapan Das and members of the Advisory Committee were present.
