Agartala, 2nd April 2026: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today sharply criticized the Tipra Motha party, accusing it of misleading the public with slogans like Thansa, Greater Tipraland, and Puila Jati.
Speaking at a gathering in Kunjaram Para, Paharpur of the Natunbazar-Malbasa constituency ahead of the TTAADC elections, Dr. Saha claimed that Tipra Motha exploits communal sentiments to gain political advantage.
“They mislead people with lies. This time, if the Bharatiya Janata Party forms the government in the ADC, the janajati will see real development,” he said.
At the event, Dr. Saha welcomed 700 voters from 203 families who joined the BJP, emphasizing the party’s commitment to progress in the region.
Dr. Saha highlighted the inconsistencies of Tipra Motha, saying the party has been unpredictable and self-serving. “For a long time, they thought they could control the ADC and dictate terms. We tried to work with them, but they changed their stance repeatedly. They are trying to control the ADC like communists, but we have decided to move forward on our own,” he explained.
He also addressed misleading claims regarding Village Council elections, stating, “Tipra Motha has been creating confusion, saying we blocked VC elections. BJP has always been ready for these elections.”
Dr. Saha criticized Tipra Motha’s use of slogans like Thansa and Greater Tipraland, calling them empty and confusing. “They even involve minorities and Bengalis in their narratives, without clarity or direction. We, on the other hand, are committed to building a new Tripura for everyone, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas, Sabka Vishwas. People want peace, not unrest,” he said.
He further emphasized the democratic era, noting that monarchy is over. “Funds allocated for ADC development have been mismanaged. There is cheating and exploitation, and people are recognizing it,” Dr. Saha added.
Drawing a parallel with West Bengal politics, Dr. Saha said, “Tipra Motha resembles TMC in its approach—intimidating people and undermining democracy. This will not work here. I appeal to the youth of Tipra Motha to join the BJP and work for genuine development.”
The event was attended by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, MLA Ranjit Das, Notunbazar-Malbasa candidate Rabindra Reang, Ampinagar ADC candidate Saudagar Kaloi, minority leader Jasim Uddin, and other senior party leaders.
