CM Manik Saha highlights state and central schemes for socio-economic upliftment of people

Agartala, September 27, 2023: Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday inaugurated the Lavarthi Parivar Maha Sammelan at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala, where he highlighted the development initiatives of the state and central governments for the socio-economic upliftment of the people. The event was organized under the initiative of Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission.

The Chief Minister said that the main thrust of the development of the state government is to extend the benefits of development projects to the people living in the most marginalized areas. He said that Sabka Saath, Sabka Bikash, Sabka Biswas and Sabka Prayas are the main driving forces of the current government.

He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for implementing the vision of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay to deliver the benefits of development to the last person of the society. He said that since Narendra Modi took charge of the country as the Prime Minister, the country is gradually reaching the peak of development. He cited the example of the recently held G-20 conference, where India’s role was appreciated by the world leaders.

The Chief Minister also spoke about the issue of women empowerment and said that the Prime Minister has tried to take the women of the country to the forefront. He said that the state government is also implementing various schemes to make women self-reliant. He mentioned some of the measures taken by the state government such as 33 per cent reservation of seats for women in jobs, 50 per cent reservation for women in allotment of government market stalls, fee waiver for girl students in general degree colleges and promotion of cottage industries such as handicrafts and Risa by women.

The Chief Minister also said that besides government jobs in the state, various government programs are being implemented for the purpose of self-reliance. He said that currently, various self-employed are also developing in the state and the trend towards self-reliance among the people is now being observed in every corner. He expressed hope that India along with Tripura will become stronger and move forward in the future with the combined efforts of all.

On this occasion, various beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Scheme and Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Urban Livelihood Mission were felicitated by the Chief Minister. Among them, 5 street vendors, various self-help groups involved in door-to-door waste collection and successful beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Scheme were felicitated. Besides, driving license was given to 5 women auto drivers trained under this scheme. Agartala Municipal Corporation, Dharmanagar Municipal Corporation and Udaipur Municipal Corporation were felicitated on the occasion for the successful implementation of Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Scheme. State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank and Tripura Grameen Bank were also felicitated as the best performing banks in this scheme.

Urban Development Department Secretary Abhishek Singh delivered the welcome address on the occasion. Prasad Rao Vadarapu, Director of Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission gave the vote of thanks. AMC Mayor Deepak Majumder, Urban Development Department Director Rajat Panth, AMC Additional Municipal Commissioner Mohammad Sajad P and State Level Baskers Committee Convener Bikash Das were present on the occasion among others.
