Agartala, 1st October 2026 : Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday called upon BJP leaders and workers to intensify organisational preparations for the upcoming urban local body elections and cautioned against any complacency in the run-up to the polls.
Dr. Saha made the remarks after chairing an organisational meeting of the BJP’s Agartala unit. State BJP president Abhishek Debroy, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy and Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath were also present at the meeting.
Speaking to reporters later, the Chief Minister said the meeting focused primarily on the upcoming elections to the Agartala Municipal Corporation, municipalities and Nagar Panchayats.
He said discussions were held on strengthening the party organisation and ensuring greater coordination among workers at different levels ahead of the elections.
“The discussion today was mainly about the upcoming elections and how we will prepare ourselves. The focus is basically on bringing the workers together,” Dr. Saha said.
He also said the election-related committees had not yet been finalised. The final decision regarding the constitution of the committees would be taken by the party leadership, following which the details would be announced by the state BJP president.
Emphasising the importance of the upcoming elections, Dr. Saha recalled the BJP’s performance in the previous urban local body polls, when the party won all the municipalities, including the Agartala Municipal Corporation and Nagar Panchayats.
He urged party leaders and workers to approach the forthcoming elections with greater seriousness and enthusiasm.
“Everyone should take the issue seriously. There should be no lethargy anywhere. Everyone should remain vibrant,” the Chief Minister said.
The meeting comes as the BJP steps up its organisational activities in preparation for the upcoming urban local body elections in the state.
