Agartala, 2nd September 2024: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Monday chaired a review meeting of Agartala Govt. Dental College & Hospital progress after its first academic year, emphasizing that all work should be done following the rules and guidelines of the Dental Council of India for the overall improvement of the college.
The meeting was held at the Chief Minister’s War Room of the Tripura Institution for Transformation.
Discussions covered infrastructural development of Agartala Government Dental College, including faculty recruitment in various departments, the current status of the college building under the PM-Divine project, construction of a 250-seat boys’ and girls’ hostel, admission of students from economically weaker sections, and college arrangements for dental vans.
During the meeting, Dr. Saha reviewed various issues concerning the dental college and reiterated the importance of adhering to the rules and guidelines of the Dental Council of India for the college’s overall improvement.
“PRTC should be made mandatory for recruitment to various posts. However, if no qualified candidate is available in the state, provisions for exemption in the case of PRTC should be made,” said Dr. Saha.
Dr. Saha also emphasized the implementation of all initiatives before the upcoming visit by the Dental Council of India.
Present at the meeting were Health Department Secretary Kiran Gitte, Agartala Government Dental College Principal Professor (Dr.) Shalu Rai, Agartala Government Medical College Acting Principal Dr. Tapan Majumder, Director of Tripura Health Service Dr. Sanjib Debbarma, Medical Superintendent of Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital Dr. Shankar Chakraborty, Chief Engineer of PWD Rajib Debbarma, and others.
