Miscreants attack lab assistant’s home over vegetable garden dispute at College Tilla area

Agartala, 2nd September 2024:   In a shocking incident last night, miscreants attacked the residence of lab assistant Vivekananda Das, located near College Tilla area, over a boundary dispute involving a vegetable garden. The attack led to significant damage and heightened tension in the area adjacent to the law college.

According to reports, the assailants destroyed all the furniture in the house and allegedly locked the family members of the homeowner in the bathroom. The incident has caused considerable alarm among the local residents.

Eyewitnesses and the victim’s family have accused Sourav and Gaurav Bhattacharya, sons of retired Gopal Bhattacharya staged the attack. The Bhattacharya brothers have reportedly been involved in illegal activities in the area for an extended period, including drug sales. Despite their father’s retirement, they continue to occupy quarters illegally.

The altercation over the garden boundary escalated, resulting in the severe injury of Vivekananda Das. The family members, who were allegedly confined to the bathroom during the attack, have called for immediate action against the perpetrators.

Upon receiving information about the incident, East Agartala Police Station and the College Tilla outpost police personnel promptly arrived at the scene. The family has appealed to the Chief Minister, demanding strict punishment for those responsible for the attack.
