CM to inaugurate international Yoga Day Celebrations on June 21: Tinku

Agartala, 17th June 2025:  The state-level celebration of the 10th International Yoga Day on June 21 will be held at the International Exhibition Hall in Hapania, Agartala, said Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Tinku Roy.

He said that Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha will inaugurate the event, which aligns with this year’s theme—‘One World, One Health’.Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Roy announced the program details during a press conference at the Secretariat today.

He said that, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, Yoga Day will be observed simultaneously at one lakh locations across the country. As part of this initiative, the central government also aims to establish 1,000 yoga parks nationwide.In Tripura, a grand yoga demonstration will feature participation from Tripura Police, BSF, CRPF, TSR, NCC, NYKS, NSS, Scouts and Guides, social organizations, school students, yoga practitioners, and employees from various departments. Additionally, a mega blood donation camp will be organized to mark the occasion.

“The state will also observe Yoga Day in all districts, subdivisions, and blocks, with iconic locations like the Unakoti heritage site hosting special yoga events. Ahead of the main celebration, a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and a Yogasana competition will be held on June 20”, he said.

Minister Roy also highlighted several welfare initiatives by the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education. Over 60% of disabled individuals aged 10 years and above, from families with an annual income of less than Rs 1 lakh, are being brought under the social allowance scheme. While 2,537 beneficiaries were approved in December 2023, another 658 have been cleared this month, with payments starting from today.

Further, a help desk launched at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Hospital on May 1 has processed 118 applications for monthly social allowance for cancer patients, which are now being disbursed.

Additionally, the Ministry of Women and Child Development has approved two new One Stop Centres for women in distress—one each in Agartala and Kailashahar—taking the number of such centers to one per district across Tripura.
