Agartala, 30th June 2023: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today unveiled a statue of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, emphasizing the enduring significance of non-violence as a guiding light for progress.
During the unveiling ceremony held at Renters Society, Near Kalibari, Jogendra Nagar, the Chief Minister highlighted the influential role of Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy in empowering the nation and fostering social development. Joining him were Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Paul.
Acknowledging the profound impact of Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings, CM Dr. Saha reflected on the title “Mahatma” bestowed upon him by renowned poet Rabindranath Tagore. He stated that the statue commemorates this great leader’s historic contributions and serves as an inspiration for future generations. Furthermore, the government is actively working to enhance the area’s aesthetic appeal.
CM Dr. Saha underlined the continued relevance of Mahatma Gandhi’s principles in the face of recent episodes of violence and challenges related to community and religion. He commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for following in the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi and embracing the path of non-violence. The Chief Minister emphasized that the Prime Minister is dedicated to the success of the National Education Policy, which reflects the influence of Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings. He reiterated that development can only be achieved through non-violence, a belief exemplified by Mahatma Gandhi.
The Chief Minister concluded by affirming that Prime Minister Modi recognizes the significance of Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings and is aligned with his principles. He emphasized that Mahatma Gandhi’s exemplary life continues to serve as a guiding force, inspiring progress across various spheres in the nation.
