CM urges for strengthening relationship between BDOs, Panchayat to boost development work

Agartala: May 31. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday said that the state government successfully attained its objectives from the central government, benefiting from the advantage of having a double engine government.

Dr. Manik Saha, the Chief Minister, expressed this view during a workshop held at Pragya Bhaban in the capital, where Block Development Officers (BDOs) from various districts participated. The workshop focused on the different schemes of the Rural Development Department, such as REGA, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission.

In his inaugural address, the Chief Minister shed light on various aspects of these projects and emphasized the pivotal role of BDOs and other officials in shaping the initiatives brought from Delhi. He acknowledged the remarkable performance of BDOs, which has contributed to overall improvement.

The Chief Minister announced plans to recruit new engineers through an upcoming advertisement. Furthermore, he stressed the need to strengthen the relationship between BDOs and Panchayat bodies, as well as enhance communication between BDOs and public representatives. These measures are expected to accelerate the pace of development work.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the state government requested 1 lakh houses and has received 1 lakh 30 thousand 695 houses from the central government. Previously, Tripura only received 24,990 houses before 2018. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his commitment to making Tripura a model state, and the Chief Minister affirmed that the state government is moving in that direction. During the workshop, the attendees, including secretaries and officials, discussed various schemes, including REGA, Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission, and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Secretary of Rural Development Department, and other high-ranking officials were present at the event.
