COF celebrates 2nd Global and Regional Alumni Meet (GRAM 2.0)

Agartala, December 09: The College of Fisheries, Central Agricultural University (Imphal), Lembucherra celebrated 2nd Global & Regional Alumni Meet (GRAM 2.0) at its campus at Lembucherra on Saturday.

Gracing the grand event as Chief Guest, Tinku Roy, Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education, Govt. of Tripura highlighted the role of youth in nation development and State and Union Governments’ stake in it. Dr. Burhan Uddin Choudhury, Head, ICAR Tripura Centre, Lembucherra and Prof. T. K. Maity were the Guests of Honour. Prof. Ratan Kumar Saha, Dean of the College highlighted the achievements of its Alumni who are now present across the globe.

As many as 45 alumni are serving the country as ARS Scientist in various ICAR institutes, 33 as Professors/Assistant Prof. & Assistant Directors, 23 as Subject Matter Specialists in various KVKs and ATMAs, 16 as Managers & Deputy Managers in SBI and other nationalized Banks, 202 as Superintendent of Fisheries & Fisheries Officers in various states while 175 alumni are currently pursuing higher studies in reputed Universities within and outside the country.

In addition, 10 alumni have chosen the path of Entrepreneurship and are running successful Start-ups and receiving Grant-in-aids from State & Central Governments. GRAM 2.0 is sponsored by the Institutional Development Plan (IDP) under National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) (funded by ICAR and the World Bank Project) and jointly organized by the College of Fisheries, CAU, Lembucherra and its alumni association – COFLAA. GRAM 2.0 marks not just a reunion but a celebration of shared accomplishments and the promise of a bright future.

This is the 4th Alumni Meet of COFLAA, a testament to the bonds shared and the collective commitment to the growth of the region and the nation. The meet was attended by 300 alumni in offline & online mode. A blood donation camp was also organized in collaboration with the Tripura State Blood Transfusion Council, Govt. of Tripura, wherein the Alumni, student and staff volunteers of the college donated more than 20 units of blood. 

As part of this programme different sports, cultural and recreational events were organized wherein the Alumni, student, and staff volunteers of the college took part. Flying 200 Sky-lantern (Fanush) was the special attraction of the programme GRAM 2.0. At the end of the programme, Dr. Himadri Saha, General Secretary, COFLAA proposed the formal Vote of Thanks.
