Agartala, 2nd March 2026: As spring reaches its peak, nature’s vibrant hues find their fullest expression in the Dol festival. The streets of Agartala are already alive with preparations, as the crimson blossoms of Krishnachura and the golden blooms of Radhachura set the seasonal backdrop.
With Dol Purnima just a day away, the city is gearing up for celebrations. Various community mandaps across Agartala will host rituals and prayers. According to Hindu scriptures, the divine play of colors begins with Lord Krishna before devotees join in the festivities. For many, Dol is not just Holi—it is the festival of spring itself, a tradition that Bengalis cherish as the first of their “13 festivals in 12 months.”
Markets are now brimming with colors, including organic varieties that, despite their higher price, remain in high demand. Enthusiasts are determined to keep the vibrancy of the season alive, ensuring that the festival does not lose its charm.
This year, however, traders note that the price of colors has risen significantly. Yet, the anticipation remains undiminished, as people look forward to a day when life itself feels painted in shades of joy and hope.
