Agartala, 13th October 2025: The brutal assault and murder of a 14-month-old girl in Padmabil under Panisagar subdivision has sparked widespread outrage across Tripura. In response to the heinous crime, the North District Congress submitted a deputation to the Superintendent of Police this afternoon, demanding swift and stringent legal action against the perpetrator.
Leading the delegation was North District Congress President Digbijoy Chakraborty, accompanied by Tripura Pradesh Congress Secretary Chayan Bhattacharjee, General Secretary Indrajit Pal, district leader Abdul Basit Choudhury, North District Youth Congress President Jahangir Hussain, and Krishan District Congress President Moinul Haque, among others.
The Congress delegation urged the police to ensure the accused faces the harshest punishment under the law, emphasizing that such brutality must never be repeated. They also called for a more proactive role from the administration in safeguarding women and children.
“This incident has shaken not just a family but the conscience of the entire society. We demand that justice be delivered swiftly and impartially,” said Digbijoy Chakraborty.
Superintendent of Police Abhinash Rai listened attentively to the Congress delegation and assured them that appropriate measures would be taken. He also expressed deep sorrow over the incident, stating that he was personally disturbed by the tragedy.
