Agartala, 30th September 2026 : Congress MLA Gopal Chandra Roy on Wednesday walked out of the general meeting of the Paschim Tripura Zila Parishad, expressing dissatisfaction over the delay in commencement of the meeting and the absence of prior communication regarding the change in schedule.
The meeting was originally scheduled to begin at 1 pm at the conference hall of the West District Magistrate’s office. However, the meeting did not begin at the scheduled time and was subsequently expected to start around 2 pm, according to Roy.
Speaking to reporters, the Congress MLA said that while meetings may sometimes be delayed due to unavoidable circumstances, elected representatives should be informed about any change in timing.
“There may be an urgency or unavoidable circumstances because of which a meeting has to be delayed. But there should be someone to inform the members that the meeting will start late or that the time has been deferred,” Roy said.
He stressed that administrative meetings should generally be conducted on time and that even a delay of five or seven minutes should be properly communicated if the scheduled time cannot be maintained.
Roy said he had other engagements and could not remain waiting indefinitely without receiving any information about the reason for the delay.
“I also have work. If there is any problem or unavoidable circumstance, someone should inform us and convey the reason to everyone. The meeting time may have to be changed, but the members should be informed,” he said.
The MLA’s walkout brought attention to the importance of timely communication and coordination in official meetings involving elected representatives and administrative authorities.
