Agartala, December 18: The Pradesh Congress party has strongly criticized the rally program of Janajati Suraksha Manch, a tribal rights group, scheduled on December 25, as a ‘deep conspiracy’ to create unrest in the state. The party has also urged the people to be vigilant and not fall for the divisive politics of the Manch.

Prabir Chakraborty, the spokesperson of the Congress, made these allegations at a press conference at the Pradesh Congress Bhawan in Agartala on Monday. He said that the rally program, which demands a separate state for the tribals, is based on a ‘strange logic’ and is unconstitutional. He claimed that there is a hidden political agenda behind the rally, which aims to gain political mileage by exploiting the sentiments of the tribal people.

Chakraborty also raised the issue of corruption in the recruitment process of the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT). He said that five candidates who were deprived of their jobs have filed a case in the high court. He demanded a judicial inquiry into the recruitment scam and said that the Congress is not against anyone’s job, but wants justice for all the meritorious candidates.

He also mocked the Chief Minister’s gesture of personally handing over the job offer letters to the selected candidates. He said that this is a violation of the rule that the job offer should be sent by post to the candidate’s home address. He said that the people of the state have never witnessed such a bizarre situation and are ready to give a fitting reply to the government.
