Agartala, 2nd April 2025: Congress and Youth Congress members today organized a protest march demanding the payment of five months’ arrears of wages for workers in Raishyabari, Ganganagar and Dumbur Nagar RD Blocks of Gandacherra subdivision. The march was led by the 44-Raima Valley Block Congress and Youth Congress, traversed the subdivision headquarters area before being intercepted by police near the Dumbur Nagar RD Block office.
Tensions escalated as a scuffle broke out between Congress workers and the police, creating an atmosphere of unrest in the area. Despite the confrontation, a four-member delegation successfully met with the in-charge Block Officer of Dumbur Nagar RD Block to submit their deputation. The delegation also handed over demand certificates outlining their grievances.
The Congress leaders including Raima Valley Block Congress President Ranjit Tripura and Youth Congress President Badal Sarkar emphasized their demands for immediate payment of the arrears within 24 hours and an increase in wages. They warned of a larger movement if their demands are not addressed promptly.
