Agartala, 28th May 2024:   In a weather development influenced by Cyclone ‘Remal’, extensive areas of Kalyanpur have experienced continuous rain since yesterday. This meteorological phenomenon has significantly impacted public life in various parts of the region. The Khowai River overflowed, submerging numerous agricultural lands adjacent to its banks. Additionally, the water levels in many ponds have risen, prompting fish from both small and large ponds to emerge naturally.

Farmers are understandably concerned about their crops and agricultural land, while those who rely on fisheries for their livelihoods are also facing anxiety during this period. The rainy conditions are particularly evident in Ghilatli, West Ghilatli, South Ghilatli, a portion of Dakshin Durgapur, and sections of Shantinagar, Kunjaban, and North Kamalnagar within the Kalyanpur area. As of the latest update, the rain has temporarily ceased, but thick clouds continue to loom in the sky.

The sub-divisional administration has issued an alert, urging everyone to exercise caution. Despite the ongoing rainy situation, authorities maintain that the overall situation in Kalyanpur remains under control.

Meanwhile, the impact of Cyclone ‘Remal’ extends beyond weather-related disruptions. Reduced vehicular traffic is noticeable across roads, from village lanes to the mini city of Kalyanpur. Simultaneously, the socio-economic system faces unique challenges. Power outages have intensified due to natural causes, and the community eagerly awaits a return to normalcy.
