Agartala, 4th April 2025:   Allegations of corruption and negligence have marred the construction of an 80-meter road in the Rajnagar area under Matabari RD Block, Udaipur. The project has been allocated after years of delay and is expected to feature a 1-meter-wide passage with the Panchayat Secretary of Rajnagar Panchayat tasked to oversee its completion. However, concerns regarding the quality of the work surfaced from the very beginning.

Local residents along with area’s leader repeatedly raised concerns urging adherence to the government’s specified guidelines. Despite their persistent appeals, the Rajnagar Panchayat reportedly failed to take corrective action, prompting the locals to escalate the matter.

Upon receiving the complaints, Matarbari Community Development Officer, Chairman of Matarbari Panchayat Samiti Shilpi Das, Block Development Officer (BDO) Shubhrata Dey and engineers inspected the site. Their investigation confirmed several allegations made by the locals.

Speaking to reporters, BDO Dey acknowledged that some of the complaints were valid. “Instructions have been given to complete the work while maintaining the specified quality standards,” the BDO stated.

Chandan Debnath, a local resident expressed his frustration to reporters, stating that despite repeated warnings, substandard work had continued unchecked. The locals emphasized their demand for proper utilization of government funds and warned that they would take further action if the quality issues persisted.
