Agartala, April 07: A written case was filed with the police station against the secretary of three village panchayats on charges of corruption. Many people are of the opinion that many white-collar criminals are involved in this case besides the Panchayat Secretary. It is to be noted that although there is supposed to be free government houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, government houses have been distributed in various village panchayat areas under Gournagar block of Kailashahar.
Not only that, a government house was allotted in the name of Ram Babu under PMAY and white-collar criminal demanded money, but he refused to pay.
There have been serious allegations that the Panchayat authorities have given the house allotted in the name of Ram Babu to Shyam Babu in exchange of money. Later, Ram Babu went to the block and found out that the government house allotted to Ram Babu’s name has been given to Shyam Babu. As a result, many people like Ram Babu complained in writing to the District Magistrate Dr Vishal Kumar.
Massive corruption in allotment of government houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana organized in Srinathpur, Tilabazar and Lakshipur Gram Panchayats under Gournagar RD block. Later, District Magistrate Dr Vishal Kumar directed BDO Rameshwar Chakraborty of Gournagar block to file a written case at the police station.
On receiving the instructions of the District Magistrate, BDO Rameshwar Chakraborty of Gournagar RD Block filed a written case against Srinathpur Gram Panchayat Secretary Hossain Uddin and Tilabazar Gram Panchayat Secretary Ranjit Kumar Deb with Irani Police Station and filed a written case against Lakshipur Gram Panchayat Secretary Abdul Goffer with Kailasahar Police Station.
In this regard, Jatindra Das, OC of Irani police station, told reporters that although a government house was allotted to Kamala Begum, a resident of Srinathpur Gram Panchayat under Gaurnagar block, under the Prime Minister Housing Scheme, after demanding cash from Kamala Begum, the house was not given to Kamala Begum as she refused to pay the money. The panchayat authorities gave that house to another person in the village in exchange of money.
