Agartala, 5th April 2024: Biplab Kumar Deb, former Chief Minister of Tripura and BJP candidate for the West Parliamentary Constituency, has asserted that the alliance between the CPIM and Congress in Tripura is merely a strategy for their own political survival.
“In Tripura, the Communists have aligned with Congress solely to safeguard their own interests. Yet, in Kerala, we witness the Congress and Communists engaged in fierce opposition against each other. The national footprint of Congress has dwindled, reduced to a struggle for preserving its family legacy. Conversely, the CPIM is striving to protect its cadre base,” stated Deb during a party event.
He emphasized that only the BJP stands as the true advocate for the populace, particularly the youth and women, across the nation.
“Under the BJP’s governance in Tripura over the past six years, significant strides have been made. We’ve facilitated the construction of 4 lakh houses under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana, with 70 percent allotted to women. In stark contrast, during the Communist reign spanning 25 years, only 48,000 houses were provided. We’ve also ensured a 33 percent reservation for women in government jobs and bolstered the formation of self-help groups to empower women financially. The neglect of women’s welfare under the previous Communist administration, led by Manik Sarkar, is evident. Their mistreatment of women reflects their true character,” Deb elaborated.
He highlighted the paradox in Kerala, where the Communists fielded candidates against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, exposing the duplicitous nature of both parties. “Their actions in Tripura contradict their rhetoric. The CPIM’s legacy in Tripura is marred by terror and oppression, a stark contrast to their promises. They are accountable for the turmoil prevailing in Tripura,” Deb concluded.
