Agartala, 9th April 2025:  Lok Sabha MP and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the CPI(M), accusing the party of failing to work for underprivileged children and instead allegedly involving them in extremist activities.

Speaking at an organisational meeting held by the BJP’s Belonia Mandal on the party’s foundation day, Deb alleged, “The CPI(M) never worked for the children of the poor. They handed AK-47 rifles to them instead of books, turning them into Maoists. No parent wants that for their children.”

He further claimed that the CPI(M) leadership had long been disconnected from Indian values. “They tried to destroy this country by creating terrorists and Maoists. They do not accept Indian politics at heart. In 2018, we came to power in Tripura by the blessings of Mata Tripurasundari, and the people rejected the CPI(M) because they have no respect for Indian culture and traditions,” Deb said.

He also made controversial remarks about the personal beliefs of CPI(M) leaders, alleging they did not perform the last rites of their deceased parents due to their ideological stance.

On the issue of electoral reform, Deb expressed confidence that the BJP-led Centre will implement the ‘One Nation, One Election’ model. “It’s no longer a distant dream — it is happening,” he said.

Deb argued that simultaneous elections would lead to greater economic efficiency and reduce administrative and financial burdens. “After Independence, this was how elections were conducted. What we see today — staggered elections — is a result of misgovernance by Congress and the Communists,” he claimed. He urged party workers to communicate the benefits of the proposed electoral reform and counter misinformation being spread by the opposition.
