CPIM leader Partha Pratim Majumder raises alarm over lawlessness at Bishalgarh

Agartala, 3rd June 2025:  CPIM Bishalgarh sub-divisional secretary Partha Pratim Majumdar today accused anti-social elements of dictating the political and administrative scenario of Bishalgarh alleging that their influence has led to a severe breakdown in law and order.

Speaking to media personnel here, Majumdar highlighted a series of violent incidents that have plagued the region over the past 18 months. He pointed to the armed hijacking of a car from a Union Minister’s convoy on the Charilam National Highway and the attempted robbery of an iPhone from the security perimeter near Gokulnagar TSR headquarters. Reports of beatings, thefts, robberies, and harassment continue to emerge daily.

Majumdar cited two recent incidents—one involving a father and son being assaulted and robbed of Rs 11.5 lakh in Gokulnagar and another where assailants allegedly seized the vehicle of the Women’s Police Station OC near Bishalgarh police station. These events, he claimed, exemplify the unchecked rise of criminal forces in the area.

The CPIM leader attributed the surge in violence to the ruling party’s alleged reliance on anti-social elements to suppress opposition voices. He stated that CPI(M) workers have faced intimidation, the closure of their businesses, and vandalism of party offices. According to him, these forces have now expanded beyond political targeting and turned on themselves, escalating lawlessness to unprecedented levels.

“The situation has deteriorated to the point where some leaders of the ruling party cannot visit certain areas. Public safety is non-existent, and unless the government acts decisively, people will not wait much longer,” Majumdar said.

He urged authorities to restore peace, ensure impartial governance, and grant equal rights to all groups, emphasizing that the public yearns for security and stability.
