CPIM leader Samar Adhya passes away at 69; Party leaders alongwith ex-CM Manik Sarkar pays floral respect

Agartala, 28th July 2024:   CPIM leader Samar Adhya passed away on Saturday at around 5:30 pm. Adhya, 69, was admitted to the hospital on the night of July 24 due to a brain hemorrhage.

On Sunday, party workers and supporters gathered to pay their last respects to the esteemed leader. Adhya, a prominent figure in the Students Federation of India, was elected several times as the general secretary of the college student council. He played a crucial role in establishing the Student Help Home in Agartala, which provided medical assistance to students.

Transitioning from the student movement, Adhya joined the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and contributed significantly to literary activities and promoting education within the party. His death has left supporters deeply saddened.

Samar Adhya’s body was brought to the CPIM state office on Sunday afternoon, where former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chowdhury, Left Front convener Narayan Kar, and other leaders paid tribute by offering wreaths. A mourning procession with Adhya’s body was taken out in Agartala city by activists and supporters, marking a somber farewell to the veteran leader.
