Agartala, 28th July 2024: Tribal Welfare minister Bikash Debbarma paid a follow-up visit to the Ekalavya Residential School in Khumulwng on Sunday, a month after his initial inspection revealed severe infrastructural deficiencies and poor maintenance.
During his previous visit, Minister Debbarma expressed strong displeasure over the school’s condition, describing it as “extremely dirty and untidy.” He emphasized the importance of understanding the challenges faced by those outside the comfort of the Secretariat’s air-conditioned rooms. Consequently, he directed the teachers and staff to take immediate action to improve the school’s infrastructure and overall environment.

He later addressed the media, stating, “When I first arrived a month ago, numerous irregularities were evident. Today, significant improvements have been made, though some issues persist.”
The minister assured that instructions have been given to the principal and hostel superintendent to rectify the remaining problems promptly. Additionally, he revealed that a meeting had been convened to devise strategies aimed at enhancing the school’s academic performance in the near future.
