CPI(M) MLAs boycott Assembly budget session over Speaker’s alleged bias

Agartala, 1st April 2025:   The budget session of the assembly concluded today without the presence of CPI(M) MLAs on the opposition bench. The opposition members abstained from attending the session, citing dissatisfaction with the Speaker’s conduct during the week-long proceedings.

According to the CPI(M), the Speaker failed to address their delegation’s complaints and statements, prompting the decision to boycott the session.

The party accused the Speaker of political bias and announced their intention to refrain from participating in future sessions under the current circumstances.

The absence of CPI(M) MLAs on the final day of the budget session underscored their protest. Meanwhile, the ruling party criticized the opposition’s decision, expressing disapproval of the boycott.
