Agartala, September 23, 2022: CPIM MLAs on Friday walked out of the state assembly’s monsoon session on the first day as the speaker Ratan Chakraborty did not allow opposition MLA Ratan Chakraborty to speak on the brutal role of police upon the students’ and youths’ wings of CPIM here on September 15 last.
The speaker disallowed the adjournment motion placed by the CPIM MLA Chakraborty in the beginning of the question hour on the first day of state assembly. MLA brought this motion to raise the issue of law and order situation in front of Circuit House area here on September 15 last. He said that the youths headed for Chief Minister’s office to give deputation. But they were stopped on the way by the police. Lathi-Charge was conducted, tear gas fired and used water cannons to disperse the mob which led several to sustain grievous injuries.
As the speaker did not allow the motion and discuss, the CPIM MLAs stepped in the well and raised slogans against the speaker and the government at 11.15 AM. Meanwhile, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman asked the speaker to give them some time for discussion, but the speaker did not pay heed to his proposal and CPIM MLAs walked out of the house at 11.22 AM while they entered the house at 12.12 PM.
