Agartala, 22nd November 2024: The CPIM Teliamura subdivisional Committee has intensified its advocacy for a seven-point demand list including the provision of support prices for farmers’ produce. On Friday, a deputation was presented to the block officer led by the CPIM Teliamura Subdistrict Committee.
Prior to the deputation, a massive procession wound through various roads in Teliamura town, culminating in a meeting in front of the CPIM Teliamura Sub-Divisional Committee office. During the meeting, leaders addressed various issues affecting the community.
The meeting was attended by CPIM Teliamura Sub-Divisional Secretary Hemanta Kumar Jamatia, former Left MLA Manindra Chandra Das and Gauri Das. Concurrently, a delegation of six members met with Teliamura Block Development Officer Biplab Acharjee to present their demands.
The demands highlighted in the deputation included providing farmers with support prices for their produce, ensuring 200 days of REGA work, and setting a wage of Rs 600, among other issues. The delegation comprised CPIM leaders Subhash Nath, Gayatri Dutta, Subir Sen, Himan Roy, Arun Debbarma and Shankar Das.
The CPIM’s vocal stance underscores the pressing need for government action to address the economic challenges faced by farmers and workers in the region.
