CPI(M) protests rise in Jaundice cases due to unsafe drinking water

Date:

Agartala, 27th April 2026:   The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has lodged a formal protest with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), alleging that the supply of untreated drinking water has led to a surge in jaundice cases across the city.

A CPI(M) leader stated that residents in several localities have long expressed dissatisfaction over the poor quality of drinking water. According to complaints, the absence of proper purification measures has resulted in widespread waterborne diseases, including jaundice.

In response to the crisis, a CPI(M) delegation submitted a memorandum to the CMO demanding urgent corrective action. Their demands include ensuring safe drinking water supply, conducting regular water quality tests, and strengthening healthcare services to manage the outbreak.

Officials have assured that necessary steps will be taken to address the situation.
