Agartala, 21st July 2026; The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Committee organized a protest march on Wednesday in the Dharmanagar municipal area, pressing for solutions to several pressing civic issues.
The demonstration highlighted demands including the repair of dilapidated roads, uninterrupted supply of drinking water, and the introduction of advanced medical facilities at the district hospital. Protesters also called for guaranteed 75 days of work under the TUEP scheme for BPL families, measures to curb abnormal electricity price hikes, and an end to harassment faced by residents at the Dharmanagar SDM office while obtaining essential documents.
Party leaders emphasized that the movement was aimed at opposing anti-people policies of both the state and central governments and at restoring the rule of law in Tripura.
The march began from the CPI(M) Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional office, traversed major streets of the town, and concluded at the party office. Senior leaders including State Secretariat member Amitava Dutta, North Tripura District Secretary Abhijit Dey, Sub-Divisional Secretary Ratan Roy, former minister Bijita Nath, MLA Shailendra Chandra Nath, and State Committee member Durgesh Roy joined the rally alongside party workers and supporters.
