Agartala, 25th September 2025: The CPI(M) Unakoti District Committee submitted a memorandum to DM Tamal Majumdar (IAS) today, raising concerns over the ongoing intensive revision of the electoral rolls. The delegation, led by senior party leaders, presented a four-point charter of demands at the DM’s office in Gournagar around 10 AM.
Present during the deputation were CPI(M) State Committee Secretary Bishwarup Goswami, Kailashahar Subdivision Secretary Anjan Roy, Kumarghat Subdivision Secretary Samiran Malakar, Acting District Secretary Swapan Baishnab, along with other district leaders.
The memorandum emphasized several key demands: ensuring the safety of opposition party representatives during all-party meetings convened by the administration, allowing Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to be appointed from adjacent polling booths, issuing identity cards to BLAs through the Election Department, preventing any form of harassment against genuine voters, and prohibiting the assignment of additional tasks to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) through BLAs without proper authorization.
Speaking to reporters, Acting District Secretary Swapan Vaishnab stated, “Voter list revision is a vital part of the democratic process. If transparency and fairness are compromised, it endangers the rights of ordinary voters. We demand equitable BLA appointments, security for opposition representatives, and protection for genuine voters from any form of harassment. Fulfilling these demands will strengthen public trust in the administration.”
The CPI(M) leadership urged the district administration to take immediate steps to ensure that the electoral process remains free, fair, and devoid of intimidation.
