Agartala, 23rd May 2025:   CPIM workers faced an unexpected situation when they arrived at Bhatibari panchayat in Kamalasagar assembly constituency today to submit a deputation regarding local issues. To their surprise, the panchayat secretary and other officials were absent at 11:30 a.m., prompting the workers to initially refrain from submitting their demands.

After a prolonged wait, the delegation led by Kamalasagar Regional Committee members, including District Committee member Hiranmoy Narayan Debnath, Divisional Committee member Mallika Debbarma, and local member Madhu Debbarma called upon a GRS (Gram Rozgar Sevak) to hand over the deputation paper. Expressing their frustration over the unavailability of panchayat officials, the leaders voiced concerns about longstanding issues in the region.

The deputation highlighted poor road conditions across Bhatibari panchayat and alleged discrepancies in the distribution of government housing scheme benefits, with tribal residents reportedly receiving fewer allocations. Additionally, the workers raised concerns over the delay in MGNREGA work, which has not been implemented for an extended period.

Speaking on the matter, District Committee member Hiranmoy Narayan Debnath warned that CPIM would escalate its protest and potentially surround the panchayat office if the grievances remain unaddressed in the coming days.
